The pause menu is present in almost every Carmageddon game. This screen is accessed by pressing the game's pause button, and like most modern games, it has a menu that allows the player to quit the race, change some settings, etc.
Carmageddon[]
The pause menu can also be accessed when at the choose race screen by pressing Escape.
The player is given the choice to continue with the race, recover the car and continue, abort the race, change some options, load or save, abort the game or quit.
Carmageddon II[]
The pause menu can be accessed from several menus, usually on a button labeled "Menu".
The player can abort the race or game, quit, change the controls or settings, or load a game. They can also change the sound effects volume and mute the music.
Carmageddon TDR 2000[]
In this screen, the player can resume, restart or abort the race, start a new game or load one, change the options or quit.
Carmageddon (PlayStation)[]
The player can only choose to abort the race or continue.
Carmageddon 64[]
The player may continue or abort the race, or change the screen aspect from 16:9 to 4:3 - An option not found in the options screen.
Carmageddon (Game Boy Color)[]
This isn't quite a menu, but the player is still given the chance to quit the race by pressing A+B. After ~3 seconds, a message saying "A+B to quit" will appear at the bottom of the screen.
