Info
A powerup in Carma, Carma2, CarmaTDR, Carma64
Type Misc.
Use Instantaneous

The Timer Frozen is a special powerup that will stop the race timer, meaning that it can't increase or decrease time. When the race is completed, the time bonus awarded is based on the time that stood on the timer. i.e. the time before collecting this powerup. The same also happens in Carmageddon: TDR 2000, despite the timer displaying --:-- while frozen.

Collecting this powerup again will bring the timer to its original functionality, except in Carmageddon: TDR 2000. If re-collected, it has no effect, and to bring the timer to normal, one must get the Timer Thawed powerup.

Technically, in the first 2 games (and the Splat Pack), this powerup is called "Timer Frozen!/Timer Thawed!"; the game picks the portion of the string based on the timer's status (except in Free driving mode).

Trivia[]

  • This powerup is not granted when the player presses F8 in cheat mode. A function that does the same is triggered instead. This can be noted by the different messages (F5: "Timer Frozen"/"Timer Thawed Out", 9: "Timer Frozen!"/"Timer Thaw!"). The same happens with Instant Repair.
  • The cheat code that activates this powerup in Carmageddon II is a pun on "stopwatch", with "snatch" (slang for vagina) replacing "watch".
